Ingredients:

  • 1 angel food cake
  • 1 (16 ounce) container of Cool Whip
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese
  • 1 cup of sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 quart of fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 (3 ounce) package of strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 cup of water

How to Make Strawberry Heaven:

Prepare the Strawberry Mixture:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, cornstarch, strawberry Jell-O, lemon juice, and water.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Set aside to cool slightly.
    • Stir in the sliced strawberries until well combined.

    Assemble the Cake Layer:

      • Tear the angel food cake into 1-inch pieces and toss them with 2 cups of Cool Whip.
      • Press the mixture into a 9×13 inch pan, creating an even layer.

      Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer:

        • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
        • Gently fold in the remaining Cool Whip until fully incorporated.
        • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake layer in the pan.

        Add the Strawberry Topping:

          • Pour the cooled strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out to cover the cake evenly.

          Chill and Serve:

            • Refrigerate the dessert for 2 to 3 hours before serving, allowing the flavors to meld together.
            • Serve chilled and delight in every heavenly bite!

            Substitution Tip:

            • If fresh strawberries are not available, you can use a 16-ounce bag of frozen whole strawberries, thawed and chopped, as a delicious alternative.
