Ingredients
2 cups elbow macaroni
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
¼ onion, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
¼ pound processed cheese food
¼ pound cheddar cheese, shredded
¼ pound Swiss cheese, shredded
Directions
Step 1: Prepare the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions
Step 2: While the macaroni cooks, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. After that, slowly add the flour and stir until a cream coloured paste forms, then pour in the milk and continue stirring until it becomes thick, and then stir for an extra minute. Take the mix off the heat and set aside
Step 3: Spread ½ portion of the cooked macaroni into the bottom of a lightly greased large baking dish, then layer half of the grated onion, half of the salt and pepper and ½ of cheddar cheese and Swiss cheese each. Place a second layer of macaroni and layer the onion, salt and pepper and cheeses as before, and then pour the flour mix over it. Top off with little sprinkles of butter.
Step 4: Cover and bake in a 350 degrees preheated oven for 45 minutes, then serve. Bon appetit!!
