Ingredients

Bread Batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Apple Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced

Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8.5 x 4.5-inch loaf pan and set it aside.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar
In a separate large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract on medium-high speed until smooth and creamy, about 3-4 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Add Eggs
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until fully incorporated.
  5. Combine Batter
With the mixer on low, gradually add half of the flour mixture, followed by half of the milk. Add the remaining flour mixture and milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Prepare Apple Mixture
In a small bowl, toss the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and diced apple together until evenly coated.
  7. Prepare Topping
In another small bowl, mix the topping brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  8. Assemble the Bread
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer with half of the apple mixture. Gently swirl with a knife or skewer. Repeat with the remaining batter and apple mixture, then sprinkle the topping over the batter.
  9. Bake
Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, with just a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool and Glaze
Let the bread cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. For the glaze, whisk confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon, and water in a small bowl. Drizzle over the bread and let it cool completely before slicing.

Tips

  • For the best texture, ensure your butter is at room temperature before starting.
  • If using a larger apple, adjust the brown sugar and cinnamon in the apple mixture as desired.
  • To make sure the bread doesn’t overbake, check it around the 45-minute mark.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Fruit Variations: Try substituting the apple with pears or peaches for a different flavor.
  • Nutty Addition: Add a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter for extra crunch.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Substitute the milk with almond or oat milk.

FAQs

  • Can I freeze cinnamon apple bread? Yes, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 2 months.
  • How do I store the bread? Keep it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.

Serving Suggestions
