Discover how to make irresistible Homemade Baklava with Walnut! This easy recipe features layers of flaky pastry filled with finely chopped walnuts, baked to golden perfection, and drizzled with a sweet lemon-infused syrup. Perfect for dessert lovers and those craving a taste of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 800g (6 cups) flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2g (1/2 teaspoon) salt
  • 30 ml (4 tablespoons) oil
  • 15 ml (2 tablespoons) vinegar
  • 250 ml (1 cup) water

For the Syrup:

  • 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) water
  • 300g (1 1/2 cups) sugar
  • 50 ml (1/5 cup) lemon juice

For the Filling:

  • 300g walnuts, finely chopped
  • 500g (2 cups) butter, melted

Preparation:

Prepare the Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, eggs, salt, oil, vinegar, and water.
    • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
    • Divide the dough into 12 equal parts and let them rest for another 15 minutes.

    Roll and Layer the Dough:

      • Preheat the oven to 360°F (180°C).
      • Roll out each portion of dough thinly with a rolling pin.
      • Brush a baking pan with melted butter and layer the rolled-out dough sheets, brushing each layer generously with butter.

      Add the Walnut Filling:

        • After layering half of the dough sheets, sprinkle generously with chopped walnuts.
        • Continue layering the remaining dough sheets on top, brushing each layer with butter.

        Bake the Baklava:

          • Once all layers are assembled, cut the baklava into desired shapes (e.g., squares or diamonds).
          • Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

          Prepare the Syrup:

            • While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining water, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan.
            • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

            Pour the Syrup:

              • Once baked, immediately pour the hot syrup over the hot baklava, ensuring it is evenly distributed.

              Serve and Enjoy:

                • Allow the baklava to cool completely in the pan before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
                • Serve this delightful homemade baklava with walnut and enjoy the sweet, nutty flavors with every bite!
